On October 18, 2017, the Advocacy filed a legal challenge to an emergency rule adopted by WDFW that amended the commercial season underway in Willapa Bay. The action taken by the Department was to repeal the requirement that Chum encountered and brought aboard the boat could be “chucked” overboard without first being revived in the recovery boxes required to be operating on the boats when fishing.
